Currently, 62% of French cattle farmers have signed the Charter for Good Agricultural Practices (CGAP). This percentage represents 90% of all bovine-based products made in France.
When you drink a glass of milk, or eat a piece of cheese, a steak or a hamburger in France, it has very probably come from a farm that adheres to the Charter. Farmers that sign the Charter undertake to respect good practices for their animals, for the environment, for produce, and by extension, for the consumer. This is the case for over 90% of milk and over 77% of beef produced in France.
The inter-professional bodies (CNIEL and INTERBEV) support the scheme as a national framework and a component of quality assurance in hygiene practices and traceability for milk and meat purchasing.
